قامت American Foundation on Lebanon (AFL) بزيارة رسمية إلى طرابلس وعكار، تأكيداً على الأهمية الاستراتيجية لشمال لبنان وما يختزنه من طاقات وإمكانات بشرية واقتصادية واعدة.
ترأس الوفد رئيس المؤسسة السيد Bill Maadarani، وضمّ الوفد كلاً من السيد علي كنعان، السيدة نورا المرعبي مسؤولة شمال لبنان في المؤسسة، السيد محمود الناظر مسؤول الإعلام والتواصل، والمحامية جوليات الأسعد.
وخلال الجولة، عقد الوفد سلسلة لقاءات مع السيدة مريم صبح ممثلةً رجل الأعمال السيد كمال صبح، النائب وليد البعريني، السيد فادي بربر رئيس اتحاد بلديات الجومة سابقاً، والسيد شاهين شاهين رئيس بلدية بيت ملات ورجل الأعمال.
وتمحورت اللقاءات حول أولويات المنطقة والفرص المتاحة لتعزيز التعاون بين شمال لبنان والشبكات اللبنانية–الأميركية، وبناء جسور قادرة على ربط طاقات المنطقة بـ الاستثمار والشراكات الدولية والخبرات وفرص الشباب ومبادرات التنمية المستدامة.
وحملت الزيارة رسالة واضحة: طرابلس وعكار لا تُختصران بالتحديات، بل بما تمتلكانه من رأس مال بشري، وقدرات اقتصادية وريادية، وموقع استراتيجي، وامتداد اغترابي قادر على صناعة الفرص.
وأكد رئيس المؤسسة Bill Maadarani أن أي انخراط لبناني–أميركي فاعل يجب أن يصل إلى مختلف المناطق اللبنانية، مشدداً على أن شمال لبنان يحتل موقعاً مهماً في رؤية المؤسسة وتحركاتها المستقبلية.
من جهتها، أكدت نورا المرعبي، مسؤولة شمال لبنان في المؤسسة، أن الهدف هو الانتقال «من الإمكانات إلى الفرص، ومن العلاقات إلى أثر ملموس»، من خلال تعزيز حضور طرابلس وعكار وربطهما بصورة أوسع بالشبكات الاغترابية والدولية.
وتشكّل هذه الزيارة خطوة إضافية نحو حضور مستدام للمؤسسة في شمال لبنان، قائم على الحوار والشراكة وتحويل العلاقات إلى فرص حقيقية تخدم المنطقة وأهلها.

American Foundation on Lebanon Strengthens Engagement in Tripoli and Akkar

As part of its commitment to strengthening Lebanese-American relations and expanding opportunities across Lebanon, the American Foundation on Lebanon (AFL) conducted an official visit to Tripoli and Akkar, reaffirming the strategic importance of North Lebanon and its significant human and economic potential.
The delegation was headed by AFL President Bill Maadarani and included Mr. Ali Kannan; Ms. Noura Al Merhabi, responsible for North Lebanon at the Foundation; Mr. Mahmoud Al Nazer, responsible for Media and Communications; and Attorney Juliette Al Assaad.
During the visit, the delegation held a series of meetings with Ms. Mariam Soboh, representing businessman Mr. Kamal Soboh; MP Walid Baarini; Mr. Fadi Barbar, former President of the Federation of JOUUMA Municipalities; and Mr. Chahine Chahine, Mayor of Beit Mellat and businessman.
The meetings focused on the region’s priorities and opportunities to strengthen cooperation between North Lebanon and Lebanese-American networks, while building bridges capable of connecting the region’s potential with investment, international partnerships, expertise, youth opportunities, and sustainable development initiatives.
The visit carried a clear message: Tripoli and Akkar should not be defined by their challenges, but recognized for their human capital, economic and entrepreneurial potential, strategic location, and strong diaspora connections.
AFL President Bill Maadarani emphasized that meaningful Lebanese-American engagement must reach every region of Lebanon, stressing that North Lebanon holds an important place in the Foundation’s vision and future engagement.
Noura Al Merhabi, responsible for North Lebanon at AFL, emphasized that the goal is to move “from potential to opportunity, and from relationships to measurable impact,” by strengthening the connection of Tripoli and Akkar with diaspora and international networks.
The visit marks another step toward a sustained AFL presence in North Lebanon—built on dialogue, partnership, and transforming relationships into tangible opportunities for the region and its people.
